Miami Beach, FL – October 11, 2011 – International superstar Pitbull, who crosses the language barrier by performing in Spanish and English, has been confirmed as the headliner of the Dodge Latin Music Miami Beach Half Marathon, taking place on Sunday, December 11. The Miami Beach event is part of the wildly popular Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, the largest running series in the world that takes place in 28 international destinations.
“We are thrilled to have Pitbull, one of the hottest musical acts on the charts headlining our first Dodge Latin Music Miami Beach Half Marathon,” said Bouker Pool, SVP of Marketing for event organizer Competitor Group. “Our goal is to provide each runner with an unforgettable experience and having a superstar of Pitbull’s caliber in his hometown will create the ultimate beach party in true Latin Music style.”
Pitbull’s critically acclaimed new album, Planet Pit, features a host of pop music luminaries including Marc Anthony, Enrique Iglesias, Jamie Foxx, Chris Brown, T-Pain and Kelly Rowland as well as star-studded producers Dr. Luke, Max Martin, David Guetta and Benny Blanco. The knockout smash “Give Me Everything” featuring Ne-Yo marks Pitbull’s first #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and his latest single “Rain Over Me” with Marc Anthony topped the Latin Pop, Rhythmic and Tropical charts. Pitbull has also collaborated with some of music’s biggest stars, including Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias, Usher and Shakira, to name a few. His first Spanish-language album, Armando, which features the Top 5 Latin Billboard pop single “Bon Bon” garnered two Latin Grammy nominations and Pitbull’s last English album Rebelution produced such global hits as “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)” and club favorite “Hotel Room Service.”
The Dodge Latin Music Miami Beach Half Marathon, which anticipates 10,000 runners, will begin at 7:00 a.m. on Ocean Drive in South Beach. The course features waterfront views along iconic South Beach, with more than six miles of the route running along the water, including spectacular views of the Port of Miami cruise ship terminal, Star, Palm, Hibiscus, and Fisher Islands.
The course starts and finishes at Lummus Park in South Beach, and takes runners across both the Julia Tuttle and MacArthur Causeways, which stretch over the sparkling Biscayne Bay. Participants will view the dramatic downtown skyline and run through the Miami Beach Art Deco District and alongside the historic Miami Beach Golf Club before a unique finish line on the sand, a first for a Rock ‘n’ Roll event.
After crossing the finish line, runners will join family and friends to celebrate their accomplishment at the finish line festival headlined by Pitbull. All runners receive free entry to the concert.
