Companywide support of national platform yields record results

San Diego, CA – June 2, 2011 –As the leading resource for the active lifestyle, Competitor Group, Inc. (CGI) set the industry standard by delivering a comprehensive National Running Day marketing campaign, yielding an enthusiastic response and an unprecedented commitment from runners across the nation.  The campaign, which was supported by social media, website advertising and promotional email efforts, encouraged runners to log their miles online and share the reasons why they run.

“Our mission on National Running Day was to challenge Americans to get outside to run, log their miles and tell us why they were inspired,” said Scott Dickey, President of CGI, who lauded the industry coup. “We structured a registration promotion to incentivize people to make a commitment to achieve their goals and extend the essence of what national running day embodies.”

Across the CGI’s three event properties, more than 27, 000 participants registered for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, Columbia Muddy Buddy Series and TriRock Triathlon Series. Each series combines entertainment with activity to create the ultimate event experience.

In celebration of National Running Day, CGI launched registration for the Rock ‘n’ Roll New Year’s Eve Half Marathon in Indian Wells and recently announced that the start of  Zappos.com Rock ‘n’ Roll Las Vegas Marathon & ½ Marathon would move to the evening for the first time, creating the World’s Largest Nighttime Running EventTM on the Las Vegas Strip Sunday, December 4, 2011.
